When we took in Blanquita after a life of abuse and living on the streets, we knew she was extremely traumatized and was going to be a challenge. Word on the street is that Blanquita’s first owner was a violent person that kept her chained and muzzled 24/7 and would feed her through the muzzle "when he felt like it". He abandoned her chained to a car, and she was emaciated and her spirit broken. Blanquita showed aggression towards any human that got close to her. Her natural instinct was to fight to protect herself at all costs. I understood this deeply.
Integrity
We could let Blanquita fade away into the background and not mention her again, but that would not be fair to you and would not honor her, as she deserved. After lots of long talks with our RTR Board, volunteers, and many professionals dealing with human aggression in dogs, we decided to lay Blanquita to rest. This was not a decision we took lightly and we made many attempts to find alternative options that ended unsuccessfully. As a collective group, the members of our rescue have successfully rehabilitated and rehomed hundreds of dogs with mild to severe behavior issues. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we could not add Blanquita to that list. I’ve taken a lot of time to grieve the loss of a dog that didn’t deserve the life she lived but I truly believe she came to us so that we could give her peace. Blanquita will be buried in my backyard, alongside our family and friends’ beloved pets that passed on, because she too was loved.
Rest peacefully, Blanquita

BLANQUITA
A letter from Seana, RTR Founder and President
Transparency. Integrity. Action.
These are the principles our rescue was founded on.
Action
We formulated a plan and got Blanquita into rescue. Our first stop was to our vet's office to have her seen, probably for the first time in her life. Blanquita was VERY nervous and afraid while at the vet, so they thought it was best to give her a mild sedation in order to safely give her a thorough exam. She was given the royal treatment that included vaccinations, deworming, full blood testing (including Heartworm which was negative), fecal and urine check, ear cleaning and treatment, flea meds, nail trim, and micro chipped.
We worked with her for many months and initially, she seemed to be getting better. However, after a few weeks, her behavior started to worsen and became extremely unpredictable. She attacked me on multiple occasions. I don’t say that in my defense, but in hers. As a 100+ pound dog with intention, safety for herself and the humans around her was of great concern.
